Joined Capital One Partners and Charter Oak to purchase the assets of SIMETCO, in Canton, Ohio that went into bankruptcy in 1993. The Montgomery plant was the highest production cost and lowest quality producer of silicon metal in the US. Phase 1 was a five year $15 million cap-x plan to bring the plant into compliance with air emission standards, safety standards, and technical upgrades of all production equipment to world class standards. Simcala endured a two year strike by the USWA that resulted in a decertification of the union by employees. Training and incentives were built into all production levels and marketing was refocused to high margin customers in both the chemical and electronics industry. Simcala was sold to Dow Corning, the world’s largest consumer of silicon metal, in June 2003. Simcala was the lowest cost and highest quality producer of silicon in the US in 2002.

Built team to define product attributes, potential markets, designed and installed product handling and packaging systems for the new product and built a marketing team to commercialize the product. Successful in developing value for a waste stream product.
