I am a mechanical engineer by training and I am transitioning to computer science and software engineering.
I have completed Java I - Programming, Java II - Data Structures, Discrete Math. and Algorithms. I took golf as a refresher to my eventual re-entry back into the corporate world.
This semester I'm taking C++, Digital Logic Circuits, Artificial Intelligence and Principles of Programming Languages. I'm taking a white water kayaking class for mental defrag.
Should the opportunity present itself it would be nice to work overseas. I took two years of French in high school. That was years ago but I mastered it at the time and it wouldn't be difficult to refresh myself and get back up to speed on my basic conversational vocabulary.
I also took a Japanese for Busy People course while employed with General Electric in the 90's. A refresher in the conversational basics wouldn't take very long for me to recall with this language either.
The golf and kayaking classes will prepare me for social and cultural integration into any number of countries don't you think? That's why I don't mind the non-technical courses.
My interests at this point lie towards movie/documentary animation, educational software and educational gaming. The path will begin to be more specifically defined as the fall semester starts.
