I’m writing a book entitled "The Future of Science". I believe the way scientists collaborate and communicate will change radically over the next 5-20 years. This book is my attempt to chart out how this change will occur.
I’m working on an internet application called The Academic Reader (www.academicreader.org), which helps scientists keep up with the scientific literature, as well as sharing and organizing information. It’s in alpha testing and very much under development. If you wish, please sign up and try it out.
The Academic Reader is part of a much larger long-term project for building new tools for scientific collaboration and communication.
I was trained as a physicist and mathematician, and have also worked in computer science. I've written approximately 60 research papers, as well as several popular articles. Together with my friend Ike Chuang, I wrote what has become the standard text on quantum computation and quantum information.
