Semester at Sea
Semester at Sea is the world’s leading program in global comparative education. It joins students from around the world in one place to share shipboard education and international ports of call.
Being selected to participate in this program allowed me the credits to graduate from my home-university in 3 1/2 years.
Notable Semester at Sea alumni include actor Ray Liotta, actress Cynthia Nixon, olympian Kerri Strug, winners of The Amazing Race (CBS), Joan Lunden of Good Morning America, US governors, film producers, journalists and writers, and many more.
Entrance to the program includes (among other things) being in good standing in your home-university, meeting strict GPA requirements, proof of SAT or ACT scores, a teacher recommendation, and an entrance essay must be completed. Spring and Fall semesters accept about 700 students. Summer semesters such as the one in which I participated, accept only about 350 students. Each semester, thousands of students apply.
