Erik Mathijs’s Summary

As a system scientist my mission is to contribute to sustainable production and consumption patterns of food, fiber, feed and fuel (4f) using an integral approach, that is, integrating the objective and the subjective world. For this my research focus is on (1) changing attitude and behaviour of 4f producers and consumers, (2) assessing the impact of 4f production and consumption patterns both local and global (e.g., footprint, LCA) and (3) developing standards and markets for sustainably produced and consumed 4f.

I'm also looking into new forms of business and consumption based on the co-creation of value(s) between producers, consumers and other actors, taking an action research stance through my involvement in a not-for-profit foundation called Centre for Cocreation.
