I've worked on/tinkered with just about everything wireless - from Bluetooth to GSM/CDMA mobile to 100KW TV/HF transmitters and pretty much everything in between.
Apart from having an impressive collection of really odd-looking tools, this experience means I can remain reasonably upright in a conversation involving wireless telecommunications and how people use them and interact with each other. After all, it's all about the end-user experience, be it a Bluetooth headset, mobile call or a broadcast TV picture.
The end-user experience of the mobile internet (or the internet, mobile - take your pick) will define how quickly it gets adopted. This experience encompasses handsets, network speed/coverage and back-end systems. Any poorly-performing part will spell disaster. It's our job to get it right. That is what drives me: to understand the end-user's needs/expectations and to help meet or exceed them.
competitive analysis, future thinking, usability, technical feasability, deployability, making the tea.
