Stephen Strong’s Summary

Stephen remembers when GIFs started animating, when AOL's browser wouldn't read <tables>, when Netscape updates were an event, and waiting 15 minutes to download a Quicktime video about an exploding whale.

He officially held the title "Webmaster" when it wasn't embarrassing.

He also remembers startups paying him in VC bucks to create prototype demos, so they could go back and get more VC funding. Which led to more demos. And being somewhat satisfied when they all went out of business, even though he was also unemployed as a result.

He has over 14 years of interactive marketing experience explaining that, yes, all the banners will animate; that, no, you can't make something "go" viral; and that social media is a movement, not a channel.

But at least those exploding whale videos download a hell of a lot faster now. Unless it's on your cellphone...
