If you are here, you were either invited, or you somehow stumbled upon us. Either way, we hope you find this process interesting, and worthwhile!

This placeholder has been established within the LinkedIn environment to explain what we're attempting to create, as well as to potentially attract members to our team.

We're currently a small team, that's relatively new to LinkedIn. We're familiar with the overall goals of LinkedIn, just never really needed to use it, or contribute to the overall LinkedIn community, until now.

At our hearts, we're somewhat entrpreneurial, in that we've created successful apps within our normal business functions, or we've increased sales for our employeers by devising/implementing unique marketing/sales strategies. Based on our backgrounds, we're now going to attempt to undertake a unique risk. To put it bluntly, we're going to see if we can form a Startup, working with people we find/meet/run into on LinkedIn!!

Our goal is to build a team of people/developers, who want to be part of a Sweat Equity Startup. We recognize the need to have income to pay your bills, so if you're looking for a paid/salaried function, this isn't for you. (Once we have revenues flowing, we believe we'll be more than willing to entertain you guys!!) Initially, we're looking for partners!

The spread of talent, and the wide ranging use of Open Source tools, has dramatically reduced the cost of starting, and running a viable, revenue generating business. We want to see if it really is possible to bring people/resources together, and to create a functioning, revenue generating business. One that has live paying/customers! Nothing against Google, but having a Blog/site that's bringing in revenue from Adwords, or one of the Ad networks isn't a live/sustainable business.

Virtual Project’s Specialties:

Our goal is a business, with live customers. The site/business might very well be partially advertising driven, but there will be live customers, paying to be part of the overall site!

Our initial timeframe (once we've created the team), is to go from a standing start, to live within 90 days. We'd like to have revenues of $10-20K/month within 90-130 days.

Virtual Project’s Interests:

About US: The initial team has significant business experience in driving business/sales in the corporate world. We've built multi-million dollar apps/services for various markets, ranging from R&D, to enterprise solutions. We contend that these skills are easily transferable to driving processes on the Web. We're looking for a team of 4-5 with the right fit. We're in California/Texas/Florida. We'd prefer to find others in the US/Canada, but we can work with anyone, if the passion/desire is really there... In short, we're looking for people with experience in the following: -Web/UI Design (Flash/Photoshop/Etc..) -Web Development (PHP/Perl/Python/Ajax) -DB MySql/Postgres -Architecting Scalable Systems/Load Balancing/Security/Testing (Cont')

Virtual Project’s Groups:

We already have the servers, the development environment, and the bandwidth to get the app built/tested. When it's ready to run, we'll put the servers into a colo facility.

Our rationale to attempt this is easy:
1) As far as we can tell, it hasn't been done, using only people from LinkedIn. We believe if we can accomplish this, it provides a roadmap to other people to building apps as well.
2) We want to create an application with a sustainable revenue stream
3) We don't believe that every viable idea has to go seek VC Funding to be implemented. We believe that this provides a great way to create businesses that can generate $500K-1 million in annual revenues.

We want to stress that this is a Garage Type/Sweat Equity, after hours kind of operation. There is no initial compensation. In fact, there might not be any compensation at all if we fall flat! (We doubt this will occur, but we need to be upfront/honest) We view the project as suplemental to your normal job.

Virtual Project’s Honors:

Given that we have the physical resources, there is no need/expectation of any financial contribution from any of the team members.

The overall process is to attempt to build/select the team for the project, to create a partnership, and then to start the process.

We also intend to blog/write about the process as it goes forth, to keep an account of the journey so to speak.
