Melissa Weintraub’s Summary
I have a Masters' degree in English, with a focus on rhetoric and writing, which I completed in Spring 2007. My thesis was "The Oregon State University [OSU] Writing Center: History and Context," and involved both specific information about the OSU Writing Center and more general information about what writing centers are.
I have years of experience working in writing centers, both at OSU and at Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC). Although part of the purpose behind writing centers is to help students write better papers, it is really about making students better writers.
I have also taught writing classes at LBCC, ranging from pre-college writing to college writing to technical writing.
Additionally, I have a Masters in Social Work and worked in the field for a number of years. My social work skills cross over into my writing work, allowing me to connect with writers in a supportive manner and to help them to determine what they are really saying.
