Brenda Sanders, PhD’s Summary

Dr. Sanders has over 25 years of experience in ecotoxicology and stress biology and 18 years in executive management experience. She has been a Principal Toxicologist, Senior VP and CEO for several environmental companies and was a tenured professor at California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Sanders has served on numerous federal and state panels and committees, including an appointment by the Department of State to the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), an international organization focused on increasing our knowledge and management of ecological resources in the North Pacific. She was the North American Editor of the Ecotoxicology Series published by Chapman and Hall from 1990 to1997 and on the editorial board for CRC’s Reviews in Aquatic Sciences from 1991to 1993. She has acted as a reviewer for the numerous environmental toxicology, physiology and cellular biology journals. Dr. Sanders has also reviewed toxicology research proposals and conducted site visits for NIH, NSF, EPA, DOD and other federal, state and local agencies. She is an active member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), and has chaired numerous sessions and symposia, including a session on Natural Resource Damage Assessments at Hazardous Waste Sites at the 1996 meeting in Washington D.C. She served on the Board of Directors for the Society of Toxicology and Chemistry 1998-2001 and spearheaded strategic planning for the society. Dr. Sanders was a past Vice President and a member of the Founding Board of Directors of the Southern California SETAC Chapter. She sat on of the Board of Directors for Nine Gates Programs from 2001 to 2003.
