January 2008 — Present (10 months)
I am an Engineering manager leading a group of support engineers and SEs specializing in switching, routing and load balancing (L2-7).
(Semiconductors industry)
September 2006 — December 2007 (1 year 4 months)
I did program and project management. The focus is on smoothing communications with a single major customer whose employees are predominantly English speakers -- the people on my side are mostly Japanese. My area of coverage ranges from new installations that run into the tens of millions of dollars, supporting installed facilities, supporting rollouts of new software and hardware but also includes smoothing over hurt feeling regarding incorrect packaging of product and keeping customers happy when they come to visit. Whew! Maybe I should have stuck with coding? Nah!
