After leaving Banner, I simultaneously began Jefferson Group Consulting & Jefferson Group Search. Jefferson Group Consulting offers training and development services for the 3rd party Search, Staffing and Recruiting profession. Since 1998 I have trained over 16,000 search, staffing and recruiting professionals from 32 countries. I typically do 30-40 training presentations a year all while still running a busy IT Executive Search desk. Last year I placed 19 professionals in the Chicagoland area for my best year ever.

Began as a clerical placement agent, I struggled at first, but closed my first deal on April 1st, 1987. It was a falloff that I got sued over. In a very short few years I was the top producer placing clerical professionals at an average fee of less than $4k, 85% of the deals which I split with other recruiters. Eventually I was promoted to management, we did very well, but I was bored. I began an IT Search practice for Banner, but they did not want to stay in that line of work and thus Jefferson Group Inc & Jefferson Group Consulting were born.

- This was one of the most difficult undertakings I ever embarked on, I often found myself drowning in my studies, and to this day I have no idea how I managed to complete this course of study while balancing the addition of a new born to our world and running my two businesses...but it was SO worth it, the contacts made and the lessons learned have been priceless.

Of course my two young children take up a great deal of my time, and I enjoy how my career allows me time to be with them as they grow up. That is the true gift of this profession. I also love MLB baseball and have now attended a game in all 47 ML Ballparks, including 17 that no longer exist, my team is the Cubs (100 years and still waiting). Birding is my current passion, I am on a quest to see as many North American bird species as I can...in just two short years my life list is approaching 500 life birds in just over two years of birding. My wife and I enjoy fine dinning, traveling, and attending theater in Chicago and NYC. I especially enjoy Shakespeare productions, and have now seen every Shakespeare play performed on stage. Oh, and don't forget micro brewed beer and single malt scotch as I reminisce about all of these fun things!
