Professor of Science at Thomas College
Bangor, Maine Area
I have been teaching Computer Science, Environmental Science, and Life Science (and other) courses at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, since 1983. A list of current and recent courses is available at http://www2.thomas.edu/faculty/easton/.
With a doctorate in theoretical biology, I am a scientist, generalist, and futurist. My current academic specialty is the area of Science, Technology, and Society, in which I track important issues for two textbook anthologies I edit: Taking Sides: Clashing Views on Issues in Science, Technology, and Society and Taking Sides: Clashing Views on Environmental Issues (see http://www.sff.net/people/teaston/texts.htm). A related course in Emerging Technologies (see some of the content at http://technoprobe.blogspot.com/) often leads students to product ideas, some of which are promising.
