Community Leader and Open Technology Evangelist
Portland, Oregon Area
Community building, podcasting, web 2.0, open source, and other open technologies are my current passions, and I spend quite a bit of my free time playing with online technologies and blogging on related topics. I was one of the five original Intel.com bloggers with the Intel Trends in Web 2.0 blog, but I currently blog on Fast Wonder (http://fastwonderblog.com), which I author on my personal time.
I have currently been particularly interested in understanding the community aspects of web 2.0 including how web 2.0 communities and similar to and different from other online communities (open source communities, etc.) I am also an evangelist for activities that help build relationships within the local Portland technology community through meetups, BarCamps, and other events.
Current Projects:
- Chair / Board Member / Co-founder of Legion of Tech, a non-profit focused on the Portland technology community events.
- Danese Cooper and I are currently authoring a book on the Art of Community for O'Reilly Media.
- Organizer of the Portland BarCamp Meetups. A monthly get together for Portland area techies. http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortlandMeetups
- Portland BarCamp Co-Organizer http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortland
- Ignite Portland co-organizer http://igniteportland.com
