I joined CompuServe as a programmer and program manager, then became more involved in developing Internet products. As director of strategic technologies, my role was to identify, test, license, combine and evangelize new technologies with the potential to be huge Internet successes. Among other things, I licensed search technology (Lycos), advertising servers (NetGravity) and networks (DoubleClick), and created products such as CompuServe's personal home pages (still exists!), MarsLander, which pushed mars rover photos to users' screen savers as soon as they arrived at JPL, Lalapaloosa live concerts, and many more fun things.
