The best way to get a hold of me is at malcolm@towerofbabel.com.

I was born in Bournemouth, England on Valentines Day 1964 (which may explain my humanitarian and philanthropic nature) but raised in the Seattle area and have dual citizenship in both the European Union and the United States.

I've lived in Seattle, Bellingham, Berkeley, Dublin, Bournemouth, London, Glasgow and Amsterdam; visited Rome, Denmark, Germany, Oslo, Hawaii, Washington DC, Grand Canyon, Vegas, Vancouver, Victoria, Vacaville, Vatican City...trying to think of other places that begin with V that I've been to...

Malcolm Lawrence’s Experience

  • Founder/CEO

    Splashing Heart

    (Non-Profit; 1-10 employees; Philanthropy industry)

    November 2007Present (11 months)

I was born on Valentines Day 1964 and have always wanted to gather other valentines together and build a worldwide philanthropic non-profit organization and foundation.

The initial idea for this group is for each member to do something for someone else on February 14th every year. You don't have to know the person and the person doesn't even have to know who did something for them, but it should make a difference in their life.

A few years ago an old friend had very serious bladder surgery and the first day he was well enough to have visitors was Valentines Day, so I made a visit to see him, which was the first time in years. That's a very simple and obvious example of what I want this group to be about.

Perhaps you'd like to donate a few hours or a whole day of your time using the skills you have in your profession to make a difference in someone else's life. For example if you're an electrical engineer you could offer to inspect and rewire someone's house free of charge.

  • Strategic Consultant

    Bushmamas.com

    November 2006October 2007 (1 year)

Strategic Consultant for Bushmamas, an organization of women dedicated to group support and encouraging others in all recovery processes.

The environment in which Bushmamas is conducting its’ work is rural / remote Alaska. Bushmamas products are produced in the apartments, cabins, homes, and houses of women who are maintaining their families, their recovery, and their cultures by remaining in their natural supportive environments. Our cottage industries shall intersect with subsistence living, and other part-time wage-based earning opportunities.

Bushmamas is not intended to be ethnically- or regionally-centered, meaning perhaps the woman might be a Hispanic person whose home is Anchorage; rather, the intent is to provide a tool that is self-supporting and run by the women it serves, no matter where they are in their recovery process or their place of living.
