Phil Hotchkiss is a retired startup entrepreneur/CEO who actively advises entrepreneurs, senior management teams and venture capitalists. Hotchkiss helps his clients identify, execute and monetize white space to market™ opportunities.
Hotchkiss also serves on the board of directors for Rimage Corporation (2002-present) (NASDAQ: RIMG).
Previously, Hotchkiss served as Talkingpoint Inc.’s president and CEO (2003-2006). He also served as a member of the Company’s board of directors. Talkingpoint provided an interactive point-of-experience customer feedback and loyalty marketing application to consumer-driven companies including Best Buy, Target, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nissan.
Hotchkiss Founded BigCharts Inc. (1994). He served as its Chairman and CEO from inception through the company’s sale to MarketWatch.com Inc. for $166 million. By serving interactive financial content rich in consumer experience to the world's leading online brokerage and media companies, BigCharts® achieved profitability and quickly became the standard in interactive financial charting used by tens of millions of online investors worldwide.
After the acquisition, Hotchkiss served as the president of MarketWatch and as a member of it's board of directors. MarketWatch (NASDAQ: MKTW) was later acquired by Dow Jones, Inc.
Hotchkiss began his career an Investment Executive with Dain Rauscher Inc. (1991-1994). He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN with honors (1991) and earned a Certificate in Legal Studies from the University of Durham in Durham, England (1990).
Hotchkiss is an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner and in 2001, the Gustavus Adolphus College Alumni Board of Directors named Hotchkiss the “2001 First Decade Award” winner for leading his graduating class in professional achievement. In addition, Hotchkiss was named a “Forty under Forty” winner by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
