Aspiring Entrepreneur- Software Consultant and GMAT Trainer
Bangalore Area, India
I have 8 years of experience in the IT/Telecommunications industries including experience in Software Development, Project Management and Product Management.
My previous company shut down at a time when I was planning to pursue MBA at a top-notch university. This was a splendid opportunity for me to try out new things in life- software consulting and GMAT training- even while preparing my b-school applications.
As a software consultant, I prefer projects in two areas- telecommunication/embedded systems and web applications. I am comfortable working with most programming languages and domains but am happiest while working with C++, PHP and Ruby on Linux/Unix systems.
As a part-time teacher, I help candidates prepare for GMAT. From a short term perspective, this job pays the bills and, thus, allows me to work/focus on software/tech projects and ideas that I want to work on. From a longer term perspective, I find great satisfaction in teaching. This experience is also helping me refine my ideas on how technology can be used to assist in education.
I have one entrepreneurial venture under my belt till date. The company was moderately successful (I didn't make enough to retire for life). I am determined to do better the next time around. Although my next venture would most likely involve elements of the Mobile Web, I am open to exploring other ideas as well.
