Award-winning writer, columnist and commentator on technology, social media and journalism.
Based in Asia since 1987, I have written for Reuters, the BBC, The Wall Street Journal and the Far Eastern Economic Review. I've lived in four Asian countries and worked in more than 14.
Between 2000 and 2008 I wrote a weekly column on technology for editions of the WSJ and (up until its shift in format in 2004) the Review. I also record a brief weekly slot for the BBC's World Service.
I am also currently working on a book about recent Indonesian history.
I give speeches, train journalists in new media and teach journalism at the National University of Singapore and do consultancy work. I have published a collection of my columns in book form, called Loose Wire, which is available on Amazon.
Good writing and speaking style, ability to make complex issues entertaining and simple.
