Christian has over 13 years of experience in interactive media. Starting with a small development firm in Dallas, Christian found a niche as a producer for CBT and distance learning. As web development, especially e-commerce grew into a bubble of irrational exuberance, Christian worked with a Dallas based design firm-turned-ecommerce consultancy followed by San Francisco-based Scient as a producer and Customer Experience Architect. These experiences taught him that while high-end design and expert driven consulting could earn awards (as well as pay very well) they were not producing the kinds of innovation they promised.
After the bubble burst, Christian found work with Brierley and Partners, where he gained experience with CRM and Loyalty programs. While this offered him a chance to apply ideas about behavior and experience to online programs for clients like Nokia, United Airlines and Musicland, something was missing. Christian was beginning to believe that quantitative analysis alone was not proving ROI. Click-throughs and pageviews did not tell the story that would help show conversion.
After leaving the agency world, Christian set out as an independent consultant and started seeking contracts with area and national non profits as a Business Analyst specializing in usability and user interaction. In his contracts Christian brought usability testing and user research to the center of web and application development. Not only to improve the constituent experience, but also help show net gains in fundraising, awareness and user satisfaction. Christian is now a manager in charge of usability and user interaction at the American Heart Association.
