Global Online, Inc. (GOL) was one of the Internet's first international web-based meta-hub portal directories with more than 5,860 distinct websites. In 1999, Global Online India, Inc. was the largest ISP in India measured by its public market capitalization. Dr. Hartnett served as Founder, Chairman and CEO of these companies whose aggregate market value according to Deloitte & Touche exceeded $2.8 billion by 2000.
According to ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), in 1994, Dr. Hartnett was the largest owner of Internet domain names in the world, with more than 28,000 premium domain names.
