Job description

The New Initiatives Group is seeking a Marketing Analyst who has the analytical skills and business experience to support numerous end users from an analytics and measurement perspective, and to develop and manage our revenue management system.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead analysis/reporting of current business operating metrics (KPI), focused on developing the capability to provide insight into TripAdvisor's New Initiatives products and improving TripAdvisor's understanding of its market-by-market customer propositions and competitor positioning
  • Maintain the New Initiatives shadow P&L and traffic and revenue forecasts
  • Own the New Initiatives data cube and the primary resource for Senior Management, Product, and Business Development for analysis support and deep dive analysis
  • Employ reporting tools to measure customer interaction (such as acquisition of members, engagement metrics, and member and user value) and competitor positioning (such as reach and page impression growth, content feature set, and marketing activities)
  • Identify key success indicators and determine best practices for measurement and reporting
  • Assist with ad hoc queries and provide analytical support to our fast-growing business as it evolves
  • Provide weekly and monthly management-level reports, synthesized from numerous sources, focused on actionable data
  • Provide timely insights and analytical support to different internal business customers to support effective business decision-making
  • Create concepts, justify business cases and manage the implementation of changes to the website experience to improve customer engagement and value metrics

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in an analytical role (web analytics, finance, consulting) (ideal backgrounds include: a similar business analyst role at a start-up, large corporation; management consulting or investment banking; marketing analyst role)
  • 2+ years' experience in revenue management
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred with a strong focus in statistics, analytics and/or engineering
  • Sound grasp of finance basics (e.g. the principles of a P&L and forecasting)
  • Expert ability with Excel, Access, Powerpoint and SQL
  • Hands on experience with a web analytics tool (Omniture Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, Visual Sciences, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and people and relationship skills
  • Ability to work with large dataset and summarize findings in a clear format
  • Combine creative and pragmatic use of insight and data with attention to detail
  • Ability to work at all levels including senior management; and across multiple functions/departments
  • Confident with learning new tools and technologies
  • Small company experience with hands on / can-do mindset
  • Passionate about TripAdvisor and its marketplace
  • Proactive not reactive, with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
