Job description

Carbon is expanding its presence in Texas with the addition of a field application engineer.  The Candidate will work with customers to ensure customer success in using Carbon’s Virtual Prototype (SoC Designer Plus) and Cycle-Based Modeling (Carbon Model Studio) products. 

  • Major Responsibilities include:
    • Analyze and profile assigned customer technical requirements
    • Actively participate with Strategic Account Manager in developing an account business plan. Develop and implement strategic account technical plan. Drive penetration, adoption, and add-on sales; broaden product usage portfolio, and drive competitive replacements within account.
    • Work directly with customer to align technical campaigns with key business drivers.
    • Coordinate and indirectly manage resources from field, corporate application engineering and engineering.
    • Work closely with technical leaders of Carbon’s partners for the purpose of proposing winning solutions and high customer satisfaction.
    • Represent the customer’s technical needs to the company and represent the company’s technical positioning to the customer.
    • Work with Strategic Account Manager in reporting status, issues, account activity and progress, and developing lessons learned and best practices.
    • Develop relationships with key customer technical and business contacts.

Desired Skills and Experience

Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • BS is required; MS preferred in fields of Electrical/Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience in electronic design or applications engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with electronic design automation (EDA) tools is required.
  • Must have a strong understanding of ASIC/FPGA design and verification flows.
  • Good knowledge of functional level verification methodologies is also essential.
  • Solid understanding of System Design techniques and flows including UML, SystemC and other high-level design modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated organization and program management skills and must enjoy working closely with customers.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written skills); ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to manage customer sensitivities, conflict and deal with cultural differences in international teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with members of world-wide account team and customer.
  • Results oriented and self-motivated.
  • The candidate needs to have strong problem solving and strong organization skills and the ability to work through solutions with the customers and Carbon’s engineering team.

Background

Candidates from any of the backgrounds below will be considered:

  • System Level Verification Engineer of processor based systems
  • Embedded HW/SW developer (ARM-based preferably) with an understanding of HW
  • Systems Engineer
  • ESL/Virtual Platform Engineer (SoC Designer, Platform Architect, Innovator, Vast, Simics, OVP)
  • Designers/Architects of processor based systems/embedded systems
