Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, and develop a team of developers and QA engineers working on Lulu.com.  The position will manage in-house developers as well as remote developer teams.
  • Lead the development team to deliver next generation solutions
  • Encourage and promote Lulu's Agile SDLC
  • Develop and execute best practices in software engineering
  • Partner with Project management to report project status and resolve issues quickly.
  • Partner with Product management to ensure the engineering team has appropriate documentation.
  • Review design documentation and source code for high quality solutions.
  • Ensure that software is developed and delivered with high quality on time.
  • Work with QA engineers to define quality metrics and practices.
  • Hire, motivate and inspire current and future teams, and build a world-class engineering organization

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience leading Development or QA teams with successful, high-quality, on-time software delivery throughout the full software development life cycle. 
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Experience leading a remote team
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with desire and capability to reach decisions via quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in defining and tracking performance metrics 
  • Experience with Java technologies such as Spring, maven
  • Knowledge of database-driven Web application design, relational databases, or SQL

 

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with PHP and/or Python
  • Experience developing localized or multi-lingual applications
  • Familiarity with Agile programming methodologies, such as XP, Scrum, and test-driven development
  • Familiarity with writing unit-tests and testable code
