Title: Electrical Engineer

Job location: 8400 West 10200 South, Bingham Canyon, UT 84006, USA

DESCRIPTION: Kennecott Utah Copper LLC, a Rio Tinto company, seeks an Electrical Engineer. Provide hands-on involvement of the troubleshooting of plant electrical equipment, including PLCs, variable speed drives, variable frequency drives, transformers, switchgear, motor control, motors, protective relaying, field control devices and other plant process electrical equipment. Provide improvements, modifications or additions to plant electrical and related process equipment. Ensure that all improvements, modifications or additions are documented by updating or developing the appropriate P&IDs, electrical schematics, one-lines or other required documentation. Ensure that these items are communicated to the affected and/or involved parties. Ensure that all engineering modifications and installations are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Provide training as necessary to update plant Operations and Asset Management members of such improvements, modifications or additions. Provide technical assistance to the upkeep and maintenance of plant electrical engineering software, including PLC Programming Software, Plant Performance Monitoring System (PPMS), DCS Alarms, Safety Isolation Browser, Plant Motor Database, and Plant Load-Flow, Short Circuit, Coordination and Arc-Flash Studies



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Employer will accept Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 1 year of work experience in job offered or 1 year of work experience in a technical-related occupation (including IT, Computer/Electrical Engineering or other analytical discipline)

Special skills: Education or experience must include: 1. application of Electrical Power and Automation Systems as related to industrial plants; 2. utilizing TCP/IP, Ethernet, applications for industrial networking and supporting capital projects relating to the plant network improvement; 3. Electrical and Control System Drawings, including P&IDs, Electrical One-Lines, Electrical Schematics and Instrumentation Loops; 4. electro-mechanical systems, AC and DC Electric Motors, Cyclo-converter systems and other electrical machines; 5. analyzing and troubleshooting technical issues, including Programmable Logic Controllers and other process control technologies; and 6. teaching and explaining technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
