Responsible for
defining, delivering and promoting a flexible and cost effective
corporate architecture that is driven from business needs.

Depending upon
specific infrastructure focus, the Architect will need to:

  • Collaboratively define and update the current state and future
    state Architectures for the front-end, back-end and core
    infrastructure services
  • Develop and communicate the Technology Roadmap
  • Provide input to the business plan(s) for moving to future
  • Deliver the Technology Investment components of that
    Architecture (including sun-setting replaced components)
  • Collaboratively set standards for hardware and operating
  • Document patterns and best practices (for components above) and
    promote re-use
  • Collaboratively govern standards.

DBA Responsibilities

 Note that his is heavy performance tuning position at the
enterprise level.

  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Work with application teams to perform application tuning and
    performance monitoring
  • Setup and maintain enterprise level Oracle database performance
    documentation and standards
  • Work with Capacity Planning on Oracle performance
    considerations to plan for growth and change
  • Work as an extension to our Systems Engineering teams to
    provide 7x24 Oracle performance support
  • Perform general performance trouble shooting and give
    consultation to development teams

Other Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server
    software and related products in our performance lab
  • Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products as related
    to performance tuning and establishing performance metrics
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and
    procedures for the performance lab
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain
    users and roles, assign privileges) for performance lab
  • Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support
  • Patch Management and Version Control for performance lab

Desired Skills and Experience

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; M.S.
in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.


DBA Qualifications

  • May be certified as an Oracle DBA. See Oracle Certification
  • Preferably a BS in computer science or related engineering
  • Five or more years for RAC knowledge
  • Last 3 years of experience on 10g and 11g RAC databases
  • Eight plus years of general database experience
  • Experience with high transaction processing systems
  • Strong scripting knowledge for automation
  • Plus to have MSSQL and MySQL experience
  • Plus to have knowledge of JAVA

DBA Skills Required

  • Deep understanding of AWR and ASH reports
  • Deep understanding of Oracle metrics
  • Preferred to have knowledge of Oracle Baselines and SQL Plan

Other Skills:
  • Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities
    and tools
  • A good understanding of the underlying operating system
  • A good knowledge of physical database design
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance
    tuning and monitoring
  • Knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
  • A good knowledge of Oracle security management
  • A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages
  • A good knowledge Oracle data integrity
  • Sound knowledge of the implemented application systems
  • Experience in code migration, database change management and
    data management through the various stages of the development life
  • A sound knowledge of both database and system performance
  • A DBA should have sound communication skills with management,
    development teams, vendors and systems administrators
  • Provide a strategic database direction for the
  • A DBA should have the ability to handle multiple projects and
  • A DBA should possess a sound understanding of the business
