Performs a full range of advanced activities that ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the corporate HR function. Designs and documents workflow and makes recommendations that will positively affect business / technical process efficiencies.   Analyzes human resources data and supports payroll processing as needed. Provides recommendations or methods for system enhancements. 



        PeopleSoft Support


  • Provide support for the company’s enterprise PeopleSoft HCM application software. Includes setup, configuration and administration of the software as a functional analyst. 
  • Writes and queries in support of data requests made by the user community.
  • Primarily services requests for Payroll data but serves as back up for HR/Benefit requests as well.
  • Recommends new processes by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
  • Develop, implement and modify system requirements to support and HR/Payroll.
  • Monitor, document and analyze test results while working with Business Owners to ensure adherence to HR/Payroll laws and policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for the purpose of improving operational efficiencies, business flexibility and responsiveness.


      General PeopleSoft Liaison

  • Works with HR and client to perform requirements gathering and analysis.
  • Creates User Requirements Specification documents.
  • Creates Functional Specification documents and Change Requests.
  • Collaborates with technical and functional team on development  and testing.
  • Develops and provide input into project scope documents and project plans. 
  • Assesses and resolves on-going production operations issues.


      Project Administration

  • Works directly with technical and functional team members to develop and understand project concept, objectives and approach.
  • Takes assigned project from original concept through final implementation.
  • Creates and maintains project plans, tracks all phases of the project, providing timely reporting of uses, coordination actions and resolving conflicts.
  • Assesses and resolves issues that impact project deliverables. Ensures leadership team is aware of all active issues and their resolution plans.


      Business Analysis and Reporting

  • Works closely with HRIT leadership to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve HR services and / or business processes.
  • Reviews, analyzes and creates detailed documentation of business processes and systems functionality, including workflow, program functions and steps required to execute systems transactions/processes.
  • Consults with HRIT team to determine business, functional and technical requirement for specified technology.
  • Coordinates the development of all approved versions of functional requirements and specifications.
  • Maintains reporting and communications tools for all assigned projects.
  • Analyzes HR activities and trends; compares to industry standards and best practices. Presents findings and makes recommendations to address improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.


      QA & Testing

  • Defines, develops and executes test plans, in partnership with functional and technical project team members.
  • Ensures that all tests are conducted and documented according to required standards.
  • Performs testing, including results verification and release sign-off.
  • Ensures that all items follow the change management process.

Desired Skills and Experience

EDUCATIONAL/Experience/MINIMUM Requirements



  • Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • PHR, PeopleSoft, Project Management Certification preferred


  • 8 or more years of demonstrated experience as a PeopleSoft HR Business Analyst (HR, Benefits, Payroll, Time & Labor)
  • Experience working with integrated ERP software such as PeopleSoft HCM
  • Experience with HCM implementation projects, as well as on-going maintenance of HCM business processes / technology

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, use case development, and test plan development and execution 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR business practices 
  • Experience working with a global implementation team
  • Must be willing to travel to funeral home/cemetery locations to conduct analysis
  • Must have advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to multi-task and change priorities as needed
  • Communication and Presentation skills
  • Demonstrated Problem-solving and Decision-making skills
