Senior Business Application Analyst

This position is located in our Auburn Hills, MI corporate office

Specifically, the Senior Business Application Analyst interacts with executives and technical staff analyzing complex business problems within aggressive timeframes.  The Senior Business Application Analyst must be politically savvy with the ability to build consensus among executives, operational teams, and technical staff.  They should have the ability to train, lead and mentor younger analysts.  They also must be highly analytical, creative thinkers and avid problem-solvers who have demonstrated the ability to align multiple, in-flight projects to one strategy and articulate this at all levels within the organization.




Senior Business Application Analyst Responsibilities

  • Independently gather Business Requirements and Performs Fit/Gap Analysis
  • Develop functional and technical design documentation for use in development of business process changes and report creations. Work closely with the project teams to solidify understanding of the requirements and ensure their realization throughout the project life cycle
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in small and large group settings for interfacing with business stakeholders and business subject matter experts
  • Perform System Configuration and Set up, and conduct Conference Room Pilots
  • Conduct business process analysis and provides documentation of business process models, workflows, business requirements, use case scenarios, functional specifications and designs
  • Perform System Integration testing (functional and non-functional) and validation of newly developed applications and document issues/defects and track them to closure
  • Follow PMO documentation standards and SDLC processes
  • Familiarity with web based applications
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and develop, validate and secure acceptance of requirement documents
  • Review/translate requirements with the design team to identify detailed functional specifications
  • Work with subject matter experts through the creation of current and future state business process models that identify process improvement opportunities
  • Work with appropriate teams to develop training materials and strategies
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and technology staff

Desired Skills and Experience

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or related studies desired.  An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.


Senior Business Application Analyst Experience and Knowledge Requirements

  • 5+  years of Information Technology  Business Analysis experience
  • BA/BS, preferred or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
  •  5+ years managing highly complex projects including identifying and consulting on business process requirements and performing requirements analysis
  • 5+ years working with  various programming methodologies, frameworks, and life cycles to perform the assigned business process analysis and requirements definition and management tasks
  • 5+ years  Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/MS Visio/MS SharePoint functional features
    • 5+ years of project management process, project management software tools, templates and management techniques
    • Integrate multiple data sources and extract insights from large and diversified data/results
    • Ability to create compelling visual representations of data (charts/graphs/diagrams
    • Mental flexibility, including ability to dive very deep into details of the data (e.g., to ensure data quality) but also ability to see the big picture and take smart shortcuts where appropriate
    • A passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity
    • Strong leadership skills; self-motivated and a self-starter with a “Can do” attitude
    • High degree of professional confidence and credibility with effective presence , strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate technical concepts and plans at all levels
    • Strong negotiation skills in all mediums and throughout all levels of the organization
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills with experience building effective collaborative relationships with all organization levels of business and technical staff
