Position Overview

This position leads the internal audit and SOX compliance functions at LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. which includes leading the enterprise risk assessment process and developing and executing on a responsive internal audit plan, supporting cross-corporate initiatives that improve management control systems, liaising with external audit firm and helping to foster an appreciation for a strong control environment across the organization.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Internal Audit

  • Plan and execute audits based on risks identified. Audits include, but are not limited to, compliance with accounting, and reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and execute operational audits to mitigate risks and provide efficiency opportunities for the organization, including audits of IT systems.
  • Serve on the Compliance Committee to ensure all ethical matters or concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Conduct special investigations in coordination with Legal and Compliance in the area of fraud or misconduct, as necessary.
  • Lead the yearly enterprise risk assessment process to identify company risks and to evaluate management preparedness for those risks.
  • Monitor changes in Company policies and procedures, accounting auditing standards, and industry practices and ensure that controls are relevant.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new processes, policies, and systems that improve efficiency and effectiveness or enhance risk mitigation activities.
  • Ensure the Internal Audit department is appropriately staffed and trained to perform its responsibilities.

SOX Compliance

  • Oversight and leadership of LeapFrog’s SOX program including oversight of all external resources (audit firms, consultants, etc) including management of budget and approval of all expenses.
  • Examine and establish systems and processes to determine compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations that could have a significant impact on operations.
  • Counsel management on the control and risk aspects of business processes, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external auditors and the VP, Controller to ensure that activities of the internal and external audit teams are aligned for coverage and efficiency.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance with accounting concentration; and CPA Certification 
  • 7-10 years of progressive auditing and management experience with at least 3 years in an audit leadership role
  • Experience managing an internal audit function for a public company in addition to large (Big 4 or next tier down) accounting firm experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • PC skills in Microsoft Products, exposure to Oracle and BWise GRC tool desirable
  • Proven problem solving, project management and change management skills
  • Knowledge of financial regulatory compliance, IIA Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, and GAAP
