Acclarent, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Director, Human Resources located in Menlo Park, CA.

Acclarent, Inc. is a medical device company in Menlo Park, CA that was established in June of 2004. The company is dedicated to the development of innovative devices providing new technologies to further meet the needs of ENT patients.

Acclarent's initial focus is on achieving the goals of sinus surgery with novel, endoscopic, catheter-based tools - Balloon Sinuplasty™ devices. Through the Balloon Sinuplasty™ technology and our Relieva® product portfolio we offer ENT patients another option to conventional endoscopic surgical technologies. FDA clearances for these devices were completed in 2005 and the products were commercially launched in the US that same year.

Through our core technologies and commitment to innovation, Acclarent will continue to advance novel devices in all areas of ENT.

The Director, Human Resource is the senior Human Resources (HR) professional at Acclarent responsible for providing worldwide human resources leadership for the business. The Director, Human Resources plays a critical role in driving human capital strategies for the organization, including development of programs that will support Acclarent's vision of being the preeminent ENT Company.

The Director, Human Resources develops and deploys HR strategy in support of the short-term and long-term business goals. Serves as the primary HR Business Partner for Acclarent Board Members. Champions a culture that drives innovation and employee engagement. Partners with Business Directors and Managers to grow diverse leadership, talent and technical capability in the business. Partners with Specialist Groups to ensure coordination of HR strategies and processes across the organization. Implements and may develop structures and strategies to improve individual and organizational performance. Implements and may develop effective strategies to enable the organization to thrive through periods of change (e.g. acquisition, internal growth, restructurings). Provides group and one-on-one coaching with managers and employees to support leadership development, business decision-making, human resources management, and problem solving and performance management. Supports the implementation of appropriate HR solutions aligned with business direction. Implements global/standardized HR processes at the local level. Plays a consultative role in employee communication initiatives within customer groups. Acts as coach and source of advice on performance and employee relations related issues (NA - will be accomplished through Employee Relations Resource Group - ERRG). Holds others accountable for acting in accord with the credo values.
Works with West Coast Vice President, Human Resources in the following areas: Implementation of global succession planning, career management, performance management and recruitment. Ensures that business unit reward structures reward and recognize high performance, innovation and creativity. Ensures implementation of key processes and capabilities to support business unit learning and growth agenda.

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor Degree required, preferably in Business or HR. Advanced Degree in HR/OD strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years experience in HR management required; preferably in the Medical Device / Biotech industry. Multi-country and multi-sector leadership/management experience preferred. Proven effectiveness in start-up, mid-size and large corporate environments preferred. Track record of building strong HR organizations preferred. Strong functional expertise in organizational development, culture development, employment branding, high-volume sourcing and recruiting, performance management, total rewards, training and development initiatives preferred. Exceptional interpersonal skills, and experience partnering with board members and committees, executive leadership and broad employee population required. Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral (advanced public speaking skills required) required. Advanced knowledge of HR information technology applications including experience with the selection and implementation of Human Resources Information Systems, Applicant Tracking Technology, etc. preferred. Solid understanding of applicable federal and state laws and regulations preferred. Experience working with the Food and Drug Administration (federal and state) and International notified agencies/bodies strongly preferred. This position requires the ability to work in Menlo Park, CA. This position requires approximately 25% travel (international and domestic).
