Purpose of role


The role is toprovide hardware electronic design activities within the Post Design team, therole leans towards an analogue based experience although digital knowledge would be expected. 

The Role is with in the Product OperationsSupport Team (POST) reporting to the POST Manager

The role requires close liaison with Hardware Engineers within theR&D Hardware CoE Team, and other engineering departments such as softwareand applications.

The role requires that the AHP DSE recommends actions, process/procedure changes and design modifications required to maintain product lifetimes and improve product Quality and follows R&D guidelines for introduction of these design modifications, this would include some sub-project management and interaction with other aspects of R&D design engineering, applications engineering and product approval

Desired Skills and Experience

Areas of Responsibility:


1. Analogue PDS Activities

  • Investigation of analogue designissues within wide range of power protection equipment
  • Investigate module failures and complete re-design with minimum of supervision
  • Propose new design solutions for obsolete designs
  • Support to test and production areas

2. Product Quality and Support

  • Investigate external product failures and generate root cause analysis reports for customers
  • Understand the mode of failure
  • Investigate reasons for failure
  • Propose new solutions

 

Minimum Requirements:


Experience and knowledge in the following areas of electronic hardware design

  • Analogue
  • Transformer design
  • Power supply

Ability to fault find to component level

Understanding of design for manufacture and design for test philosophies

Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools would be advantageous.

 

Desired Qualification:


HNC (Degree Preferred) and proven relevant experience.


Minimum Qualification:


HNC and extensive relevant experience.
