Job description

Cummins-Allison is committed to manufacturing in Illinois and continues to work to improve our assembly operations.  This position will work to improve the the overall efficiency of our manufacturing operations and maintain a focus on continuous improvement.


Duties will include:

  • Design and conduct research programs, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Work closely with and solicit observations from operators.
  • Develop and document manufacturing processes by studying product requirements. Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Analyze for and implement effective cost reduction projects.
  • Develop and maintain accurate BOM’s and production routings.
  • Analyze and plan work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout with emphasis on Lean, Continuous Improvement, and 5S (Kanban, JIT, Heijunka).
  • Take ownership of the process for the start-up of new products.
  • Design testing methods; test finished product and process capabilities.
    Calculate production, labor, and material costs; review production schedules; estimate future requirements.
  • Confer with equipment vendors.
  • Maintains product and process data bases.
  • Maintains professional and technical  knowledge through workshops, professional publications, personal networks; and professional societies.


Desired Skills and Experience

Your credentials should include:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, General, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 0-3 years directly related manufacturing engineering experience
  • Work experience in an electro-mechanical assembly environment desirable.
  • Training in 5S, Lean, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task, Self motivated, hands-on approach, can-do attitude.
