Position Description:

 

The VOIP Support Engineer position is based out of IDTCorporations headquarters located in Newark, New Jersey. The primaryresponsibility of this position is to provide production support (Tier 2support) to our VOIP customers. Candidates for this position should have a generalnetwork troubleshooting background as well as VOIP experience. This is a uniqueposition to where the qualified individual would be able to learn from a teamof  Senior VOIP Engineers + be exposed tomany different types of vendor equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provide production support (Tier 2 support) to our SIP Trunking and Aggregator customers which includes network support, gateway configuration support and security support.
  2. Update incoming trouble tickets submitted by our internal staff and external customers.
  3. Be able to interact with our customers professionally and technically.
  4. Work with our internal carrier groups on termination issues.
  5. Work with our Engineering, Development and QA groups on new rollouts when needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Information Technology, Engineering, or other technical degree from a reputableacademic institiution
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • An eagerness to learn and be proactive atmaintaining and developing technical skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, debugging /troubleshooting skills
  • Current Cisco CCNA voice, CCNP voice / CCVPcertifications are desired but not a requirement.
  • Experience using network protocol analyzers suchas Wireshark / Ethereal is desired.
  • Prior experience working in a NOC environment isa plus.
  • Ability to speak other languages, Spanish preferred
