Job description

The Vice President of Information Systems will oversee the organization's technological direction includes planning, implementing and maintaining best practices for information technology that aligns with all corporate functions. This individual will also evaluate the use of existing and new technology to improve effectiveness, security and efficiency of the business.  Directing the information technology services includes managing all information technology staff and recommending decisions on service changes, purchases and related processes to ensure integrity and security of the organization's information.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite; primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and to work with others while coaching them to develop their capabilities
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace
  • Ability to properly maintain confidential or sensitive information in accordance with prescribed Government regulations (i.e. ITAR/ FAR).
  • Ability to identify the information needed to clarify a situation, seek that information from appropriate sources, and use skillful questioning to draw out the information
  • Ability to demonstrate interest, skill, and success in getting groups to learn to work together
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own or the performance of those reporting to you by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly
  • Ability to convey confidence in associates’ ability to be successful, especially at challenging new tasks; delegating significant responsibility and authority; allowing associates freedom to decide how they will accomplish their goals and tasks
  • Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
  • Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the Company.  To insure that the Company is adequately safeguarded against emerging cyber-security threats.
  • Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.
  • Establish company infrastructure to support and guide individual organizations in computing and information technology efforts.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Manages 3 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 29 employees in Systems and networks, Information Systems Operations, Application Programming, and Telecommunications.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Desired Skills and Experience

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related discipline, Master's degree in similar information technology discipline or business, preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 10 years of extensive information technology experience, as well as 5 to 7 years managing staff, processes and policies.

OTHER:   Experience within the Aerospace and Defense sector, a plus.

                 Experience with Oracle EBS application suite, a plus.
