Territory Sales Manager Reporting to A Regional Manager


Summary:
The primary objective of the Territory Manager is to grow standard machine sales in the assigned U.S. territory and manage the customer relationship through the entire sales process.


Duties:
·         Sell equipment to end users primarily through face-to-face contact

·         Identify potential customers & engage them to identify needs      

·         Prepare and propose solutions

·         Assist management in developing direct sales targets

·         Ensure all account and contact information is up-to-date

·         Ensure all field reports are submitted to management

·         Respond to incoming sales enquiries in a timely manner

·         Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Communication is the defining element of this role. To perform it successfully, a candidate will need to be socially self-confident, possess the ability to inform and persuade others, and effectively present both themselves and the organization they represent. Charm and charisma are important factors in performing such a job effectively, together with the ability to put others at their ease.

Responsiveness and adaptability are key elements in this job. Te perform it well, a candidate will need considerable reserves of energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to deal confidently with changes in work environment and situation. The job often calls for work to meet deadlines or be completed within short timescales, and the ideal candidate must be prepared to commit themselves if they are to succeed.

This job presents a particularly difficult set of requirements to the potential candidate.  Challenging and fast moving, there are nonetheless times when its holder will need to possess powers of patience to see through a difficult time or a minor repetitive task. The ideal candidate will see such periods as necessary to their personal advancement and will accept them as being an unavoidable step towards their own goals in life.

While social abilities and the ability to communicate well form the main elements of this job, there will also occasionally be a need for a more direct, dispassionate approach. To perform the job well, a candidate must be capable of both these types of behaviour, but the friendly, communicative aspect is more the important of the two. Such a job often calls for an element of negotiating skill.

To perform this job well, a candidate will need to possess powers of sensitivity and subtlety, and the ability to adapt quickly to new situations or events. Receptiveness and a willingness to respond to unexpected circumstances are key factors, but the candidate must also have the capacity to balance this sensitivity with a more methodical and patient style when a situation demands it.

Desired Skills and Experience

·         Post Secondary in Sales/Marketing and/or Business, experience in a manufacturing or engineering setting would be considered an asset.


·         Three years experience in sales, marketing support or sales administration, with a strong sense of customer service preferred, knowledge of Bakery Industry an asset.

·         Spanish Language Skills would be an asset


·         Demonstrated ability to prospect and close sales, in a professional manner and at an effective rate.
·         Experience in process flow and process mapping as asset.


·         Experience in working with and maintaining Customer Relationship Management software (SalesLogix experience would be an asset).


·         Good mechanical aptitude and capable of understanding, documenting and possibly drawing/sketching customer requests.


·         Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) Internet Application and the ability to learn additional computer software as necessary.
