Job description

The jobholder will be responsible for maintaining and growing a complex momentum business in line with Dow Corning’s strategies for the transportation industry. He/she will develop tactics to implement market strategies with key automotive customers to reach financial targets. The jobholder will actively lead and manage the customer interface to build and maintain a successful business partnership for new business growth opportunities and existing business. He/she will provide technical and commercial consultation to uncover customer needs, quantify their value, propose solutions and gain customer commitment.
The jobholder will deliver profitable growth through orchestration of Dow Corning’s global network of resources and capabilities (Application Engineering and Technical Service, Sales & Service Specialists, …) to differentiate our offering and create a competitive advantage for our Automotive customers and ourselves. He/she will develop a good working knowledge of the Automotive target segments and help formulate our strategies
He/she will network across the key functions and levels at the customer (purchasing, marketing, technical, quality, management …). The jobholder’s ultimate goal will be to develop relationships to build loyalty and uncover potential for mutually beneficial business growth.
He/she will initiate, implement and actively manage supply contracts and rebate agreements.
The jobholder will identify/assess gaps within assigned customers’ portfolio and develop value proposition accordingly. In liaison with Dow Corning industry area marketing, the jobholder will ensure new business opportunities are properly escalated.
The jobholder will support and train customers personnel on Dow Corning product capabilities and applications, mainly for lubricants sealants and fluorosilicone rubber.
In the role he/she will:
• Identify market trends, gathers competitive intelligence and potential value propositions throughout the targeted markets value chain.
• Build an internal and external network with key influencers and stakeholders in the targeted markets in Europe.
• Communicate monthly market information covering the following: customer activity, market trends and competitor positioning to the area commercial manager and the marketing team.
• Update CRM according to new commercial opportunities
• Contribution to competitive assessment as demanded by the marketing team

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate:
• Has a bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Business administration.
• Has 5+ years Automotive industry (OEM or tier 1) experience in either a sales engineer, field application engineer or product management role.
• Has business and commercial acumen of the Automotive and/or lubricant market.
• Has expertise about advanced materials for engine components, brakes, turbo chargers, fuel systems, lubricants and in the management of OEM, tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the auto industry key and principal automotive customers.
• Is able to develop the trusted relationship with customers and internal/external stakeholders
• Has good planning and organizing skills
• Value diverse cultures, perspectives and opinions to interact in a global organization.
• Is a self-starter, motivator and able to work cross functionally in virtual teams.
• Is flexible to adapt to changes
• Has influencing and excellent negotiation skills
• Is fluent in German and English. Any additional European language is a plus
• Location: Wiesbaden or home based in Germany.
• Is willing to travel 50% across Europe.
