Department:
The Corporate Communications team is part of the global Client Development organisation, reporting into the Senior Director of Corporate Communications in the US.  We are a part of a purposeful, internationally spread team of almost 30 marketing employees with a high amount of visibility and influence towards our overall RMS growth success and ambitions.
 
Objective of the role:   
The Senior PR Manager will be an experienced, creative and highly organized communications/public relations professional that will help build and execute a global strategic communications, media and public relations plan that creates visibility for RMS across our industry and builds brand awareness with the media and marketplace.  This is a great strategic opportunity to shape important industry communications and raise our technology brand profile as we move towards the launch of a new software platform and a new paradigm for our industry. 
 
The Senior PR Manager will be responsible for on-going communications and relationships with global media.  The role will involve senior level communications and external relationship building whilst pro-actively managing the process, identifying relevant media outlets, seeking potential speaker opportunities and tailoring pitches to present key messages in an accurate and engaging manor.  Alongside maintaining and strengthening our current brand, this position will play a key role in selling the scientific and technical excitement from within the company to the external market place around our ground-breaking new platform we are releasing in 2014.  This will both serve to drive sales before and adoption after the release.
In addition, the Senior PR Manager will work with other teams across the company to create PR plans that support individual sales and marketing campaigns and act as a PR consultant in an effort to support the business unit professionals.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing media contacts whilst shaping and steering program strategy and delivery;
  • Delivering agreed communications with responsibility for providing timely and clear reporting on progress;
  • Understanding of RMS business objectives and issues in their wider industry sector and managing of PR programs to meet those objectives;
  • Direct management and accountability of establishing and maintaining media parties;
  • Delivering internal training where appropriate, helping to strategise, draft and influence communications and bi-line articles;
  • Helping to pitch RMS interviews;  Developing and coach company spokespersons for media stories;
  • Be an in-house go-to person for direct media enquiries; serve as spokesperson as appropriate;
  • Monitor and plan activity with various publication sources in terms of editorial calendars and relevant campaigns;
  • Liaising with product marketing and sales to advise on messaging and PR strategy;
  • Some European and International travel will be required.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Must be Degree educated; relevant subjects would also be preferred;
  • Established background of managing PR communications whilst owning and developing new media/ PR relations, preferably for a financial, consulting or technology company or possibly within agency servicing this space;
  • Previous experience working for a technical or scientific company in a similar role would be ideal;
  • Successful previous adoptions of press releases or other media communications;
  • Established responsibility in building and maintaining PR plans, managing a range of relationships and senior executives in an effective and successful manor;
  • Candidates with established exposure to using social media, news clippings or PR related databases also valued;
  • High levels of organization and prioritization proficiency;
  • Pro-active approach with ability to drive progress and make things happen;
  • Excellent communication ability both written and verbal (samples of previous written work/ media placements will be requested as part of the recruitment process);
  • Solid experience in maximizing corporate profiles via social media;
  • Ability to influence and negotiate solutions;
  • Must have strong MS Office skills;
  • Previous management responsibilities with direct reports.
