The Nielsen Retail Consulting & Analytics team servicing North American retailers works every day on the business issues that matter most to the retailers’ leadership teams. As a Director/Associate Director you will develop and manage our Consulting & Analytics business and client relationships by designing, executing, and presenting analytic studies to meet clients' insight needs.


Key Responsibilities/Expectations for the roles:


Client Leadership/Service:

  • Exceptional client service mentality: forms relationships, builds trust and works collaboratively with small and large client teams
  • Identifies overarching client issues and proactively works to resolve them
  • Thinks strategically and creatively to solve key business issues
  • Takes ownership of client engagements, focusing on long-term client needs


Communication Leadership:

  • Persuasive and clear across all communications opportunities
  • Leads client meetings, presents capabilities and results to mid and high level client audiences
  • Crafts the right response to challenging questions and tough issues
  • Ability to diagnose and frame the issues for the client


Analytical/Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and experience with statistical / analytical skills
  • Able to explain all analytical methodologies simply and thoroughly
  • Learn new analytical methodologies very quickly


Functional Knowledge:

  • Leverages structured, logical approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrates ability to integrate relevant information and disparate data sources in developing analysis, insights and recommendations.
  • Develops deep knowledge of client categories and business as well as Nielsen products and services


Project Delivery:

  • Creates or assists developing proposals grounded in a deep understanding of the core issues
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and organization
  • Anticipates and identifies necessary resources and skills to support project; adjusts for problems and roadblocks

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Graduate degrees (MBA, MA, MS, PhD) strongly preferred
  • Example fields of study: Statistics, Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, Psychology
  • Experience in consulting and analytics in relevant industry (CPG or Retail) preferred
  • For selected positions: Strong SAS/other statistical program experience and/or SQL or data mining experience  
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
