Senior Applications/Systems Architect

CGI Federal Defense and Intelligence is seeking an experienced Senior Applications/Systems Architect for our location in Alexandria, Virginia assisting in the development of cloud architecture and advances in technology/tools supporting the analytical environment.

Work includes being a subject matter expert for the Prime contractor in supporting applications development and integration for the heterogeneous collection of high assurance systems that compose cloud technology and analytical tools. The ability to work with other senior architects, guide and mentor developers, system administrators, and database engineers is critical along with a keen understanding of information assurance, data tables, and applications development best practices.

Specific Duties:
  • Receive developed Java code and documentation from source providers, integrate code into the cloud architecture, development environment, and change code to add additional database calls or revise information presented to the user
  • Study system information requirements and design specifications using methodologies for the software architecture together with block diagrams and logic flow charts to support systems
  • Design the software architecture, translate the architecture and detailed design into computer software with appropriate refinements to include testing and debugging
  • Manage and provide technical leadership in the development of software using formal specifications, and/or the design of software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses
  • Ensure compatibility in cases of re-hosting, or migration of databases
  • Estimate software development costs and schedule
  • Prepare required documentation including project plans, software program, and use documentation
  • Support senior staff as required and ensure customer requirements and project milestones are met
  • Demonstrated experience working with Java as well as Oracle DBMS design and system analysis
  • Experience with oversight and leadership of system programmers, quality assurance of products, software design methodologies, and design tools such as IDEF and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools
  • An active TS/SCI level clearance is required to begin employment

    Education Requirements:
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + five (5) years specialized experience.
  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + ten (10) years experience of which at least eight (8) years must be specialized.
  • AA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to the labor category + twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized.
  • Relevant military training or one and one-half (1½) years of relevant military experience + an additional twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized.
  • Training certificate(s) from an accredited training program + twelve (12) years experience of which at least eleven (11) years must be specialized. Approved training programs include, but are not limited to, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, DEC, Marconi, Nortel, and SUN Microsystems certificate programs, OR
  • Fifteen (15) years experience of which at least fourteen (14) years must be specialized

    Higher or additional education over the requirements stated above may be substituted for experience as follows:
  • An Associates Degree may be substituted for one and one-half (1½) years of general experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for three (3) years of general experience
  • A Master's or PhD Degree may be substituted for one (1) year specialized experience and three (3) years general experience
  • A General Equivalency Diploma is the same as a High School Diploma
