THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Under the supervision and direction of the Crime Stoppers Executive Director, the Civilian Assistant Coordinator will work in partnership with Police Coordinators and is responsible for assisting in managing the Crime Stoppers office operation. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Liaise with our Tip Taking Service and  process all confidential Crime Stoppers Tips including tips taken by telephone, tips taken online, tips taken via text message and tips taken via Facebook.

 

  • Develop a full proficiency of the Tip Soft program and manage all aspects of this program.

 

  • Distribute tip information to police and other investigators.

 

  • Work with the Executive Director and with police coordinators to assist in the creation of required media releases, public service announcements and ads, crime bulletins, newsletters, etc. as required.

 

  • Prepare statistical reports on weekly, monthly and yearly basis and maintain various electronic and paper files and statistics.

 

  • Represent Crime Stoppers at various community events.

 

  • Attend Crime Stoppers Board meetings as needed, as well as various project or public meetings

 

  • Receive and refer incoming telephone calls from the public, Federal, Provincial, Municipal agencies and other Crime Stoppers programs to the appropriate personnel or handle in strict confidence.

 

  • Review daily newspapers to keep abreast of criminal activities and maintain files on newspaper media.

 

  • Create and manage databases.

 

  • Provide on-going input, liaising and updating of social media communication including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

 

  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

  • Assist Executive Director with Fundraising, Marketing and Communication programs.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication, typing and computer skills are essential
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Experience with databases and website content management
  • Thrives in a multi-task environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Social Media savvy
  • Security Clearance required
