The role: Editor in Chief

As the Asia Pacific Editor in Chief you will drive editorial and programming for Android Market and future related initiatives. You will hire and direct the efforts of full-time and freelance Merchandising Managers in multiple territories, creating compelling promotions across a range of digital content types. You will own the editorial calendar, schedule features, and assign tasks, ensuring that new content is promoted as it becomes available, and catalog content is presented in a unique and engaging manner. You will coordinate cleanups of and additions to the content metadata that powers dynamic and personalized programming. You will continually draw on your strong editorial and creative skills, deep industry knowledge in one or more digital content verticals, and experience in editorial or merchandising for a media-related online business. You will report to the Head of Global Content Programming.

  • Hire and direct the efforts of category experts in multiple territories throughout APAC.
  • Drive day-to-day editorial and programming in Android Market.
  • Assign content packaging, metadata cleanup/population, and content QA tasks to full-time and freelance employees.
  • Analyze internal data, market research and industry trends to optimize team’s programming efforts.
  • Advise content licensing team on content portfolio strategy and opportunities to expand the offering to meet the needs of local users
  • BS/BA. In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong editorial and creative skills -- ability to craft messaging and work with design and production resources to drive creative execution.
  • Extensive experience in an editorial/merchandising role for an APAC-based mobile or online digital content business with a deep understanding of the online media industry.
  • Experience working with partners on co-promotion or cross-promotion strategies and campaigns and a familiarity with differences in consumer behavior across multiple territories.
  • Knowledge of and experience with online merchandising best practices; ability to advise on strategies and product requirements to enhance platform-level merchandising capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze research or performance data and apply that analysis to optimize merchandising strategy while working across functions and divisions to deliver measurable results
  • High attention to detail, ability to maintain several different projects simultaneously, while creating precise and effective customer-facing communications.
  • Oral and written fluency in English plus one or more East Asian languages.
