Position Summary:

North Star has multiple clients who require ongoing design support to maintain communications across print and digital media. The Production Graphic Designer supports the Senior Graphic Designers by developing communications for these "house accounts." In most cases, the brand standards are already in motion and the Production Designer is tasked with keeping the brand consistent when new projects come in. In some cases, the Production Designer will have opportunity to work on projects (brand, web and print) that have little brand direction and require more hands-on, original development. This role is crucial for keeping North Star's valuable clients supplied with high quality design fulfillment, providing strong creative at a pace that tracks with brisk demand.

The Senior Graphic Designer steers the entire creative process of design development (brand, print and web) from the initial conversation phase to conceptualization to completion. As a head creative developer, the Senior Graphic Designer also interfaces with clients to determine design elements and demands, sets standards in motion for all brand development projects, and is responsible for creating high-quality, original design pieces across a variety of media.


Responsibilities include:

- Gaining familiarity with firm's clients and their brand identities
- Reviewing project scope in the context of a production team
- Fulfilling design requests as outlined in the firm's online project management system
- Matching deliverables to the scope of the project
- Participating in strategy meetings
- Creating identity kits
- Preparing files for printing
- Preparing and posting graphics for websites
- Providing support for photo shoots (on-site and image editing)
- Expanding knowledge of WordPress
- Communicating daily with Account Managers
- Working through edits and revisions as supplied by clients
- Tracking time/project allocation in the online project management system
- Detail-oriented in context of a fast-paced environment
- Foosball experience a must!

For Production Graphic Designer, a design or graphic arts degree (or similar) is preferred; strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite required; in-industry experience a plus; excellent oral and written skills a must; candidates must possess an understanding of maintaining brand, web and print standards for client companies; portfolio reflective of capabilities essential for consideration.  In addition, any applicant for the Senior Graphic Designer must have 3-5 years experience in the field of graphic design.


Examples of Projects:

- Branding: identity kit layout and production
- Websites: designing and maintaining websites
- Information packets: preparing brochures, pocket folders, cut sheets, etc. for printing
- Direct mail pieces: preparing post cards, letters, coupons, invitations, etc. for printing
- Client promotion: designing and sending email blasts and newsletters; signage, banner and trade show display design and print file prep
- Advertising: preparing print ads, web banners, billboards, etc.
- Social media: setup, graphics, etc.
- Management support: creating presentation and supporting firm design initiatives
