Job description

The Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) is looking for a self-driven, highly motivated and committed individuals to join the Disney ABC Television Group.


Responsibilities:

  • Reviews technical specifications and content security systems for Disney Media Distribution content distribution deals to ensure that the security and robustness of the systems and experiences are in line with company distribution policy, industry standards and business unit expectations.
  • Works with clients and internal teams to determine content and delivery formats and specifications during pre-sales stage.
  • Provides technical consultancy and guidance on content security and distribution to business units, operations and legal teams to support business initiatives and digital strategy.
  • Researches, evaluates and shares knowledge on emerging technologies that enable greater workflow efficiency and efficacy in content security and distribution.
  • Keeps abreast of and shares with internal stakeholders, technological trends and standards that may impact the business of media distribution.
  • Establishes and maintains strong network with technology partners related to content security and distribution.
  • Develops an understanding for business and regulatory requirements in the region and able to translate that into relevant and workable solutions to address content security and distribution issues.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the internal broadcast operations so as to ensure that any recommendations for new technologies or policies are able to be implemented / integrated within the current environment with minimal disruption.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues internationally on global or regional initiatives.
  • Upkeeps and ensures the smooth running of equipment and facilities within the in-house lab as well as responsible to maintain the department’s sharepoint site.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or IT required with at least 4 years of relevant experience in the media or technology industry evaluating new technologies in media distribution or consumer devices.
  • Familiar with encoding technologies and media file formats in broadcast, online and mobile environments.
  • Strong understanding of DRM systems (e.g. Widevine,Verimatrix, WMDRM, PlayReady or Adobe Flash Access etc) and security protocols(e.g. DTCP-IP, HDCP, RTMPe, UPnP, SSL etc).
  • In-depth technical knowledge of delivery methods and solutions (such as IPTV, cable, satellite and/or mobile) as well as Internet based delivery mechanisms for video (e.g. Adobe FMS, Smooth Streaming or AppleHLS etc).
  • Has knowledge of programming languages in web, mobile and OO environments (e.g. HTML, HTML5, XML, Java, C++ etc) and experienced in programming for mobile devices and/or media applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively and work well with others in a demanding fast pace environment.
  • Possesses strong organization and time management plus ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Pro-active and possesses a hands-on, collaborative working style.
  • Excellent orientation to both the details and the bigger picture.
  • Hands-on experience in networking, video streaming and/or digital rights management is a must.
  • Preferably certified (e.g. CISSP, CEH etc) or have experience in Content or IT Security.
  • May be required to travel overseas occasionally.
