The Project Manager III will be responsible for management and forecasting of all costs for a defined scope including external vendors and multiple business areas within the CenturyLink program. When groups of related projects are organized into programs, this position will manage multiple market areas whose projects provide specific deliverables; all of which must be collectively managed to provide the desired results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to manage small and medium projects
  • Forecasting, trending, and reporting of financial's and schedules
  • Working with budget owners to ensure proper cost alignment
  • Producing all required monthly reports, and coordinating those reports with other controls personnel
  • Ensures projects are executed in accordance with Project Management Methodology Guidelines
  • Identifies and manages third party vendors as required to generate sufficient bids to ensure cost competitive quote submissions
  • Works effectively with internal and external clients, third party vendors and senior management in accomplishing project objectives
  • Evaluates complex situations accurately and identifies viable solutions that create successful outcomes for the customer
  • Analyze customer satisfaction, implement lessons learned and best practices
  • Works closely with Program Manager to facilitate decisions necessary for program delivery
  • Monitors effective project oversight and reviews to effect program success
  • Resolves political, resource, budgeting, change and legal issues affecting the program
  • Serves as mentor/advisor/decision-maker to project managers for the program for issues related to corporate politics, external politics, client relations, governmental regulation, project quality, project risk and safety
  • Assists in development of proposals and requests for proposals associated with the program
  • Oversees vendor relations and procurement related to the program
  • Assists in execution and delivery of projects related to successful program execution
  • Explain how to use tools and processes to accomplish core PM activities; provide expertise and act as a resource to the team on "how to" apply the tools, processes and practices to the given project
  • Provide formal and informal training on the tools, processes and best practices appropriate for the target individual or team
  • Prepares graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status and forecast requirements for Project Management and client.
  • Advocate for Project Management improvement
  • Influence project managers and team members to effectively use tools and processes
  • Participate in efforts to improve project or program management, by proposing process or tool improvements, developing parts of processes, supporting process implementation
  • Support use of and train project managers and teams in Project Management tools and processes
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and forecasts current status against an established baseline schedule

  • Superior leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train and assist project managers in project management methodologies and their application
  • Liaison and consultative skills; negotiating skills within a context of high political sensitivity and conflicting interests
  • Excellent Presentation and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in managing internal and external client expectations on program requirements and deliverables
  • Ability to identify risks and potential project issues and to know when and how to escalate proactively
  • Skilled at vendor, financial, and schedule management


Strong writing, negotiation, communication and meeting facilitation skills; ability to utilize a combination of formal authority and persuasion skill sets
  • Strong integration skills; ability to coordinate all aspects of a PMO
  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment


Suggested Experience and/or Education:

  • BS (MBA preferred)
  • 5+ years project management experience
  • Experience with vendor, financial, and schedule management
  • Experience using SCIFORMA (PSNEXT), SAP PS, MS Project desired.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Telecom experience preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed (average 35%, but could be greater)
