Director, Strategic Affairs & Corporate Branding

Purpose/Role Statement
The Director, Strategic Affairs & Corporate Branding will create and execute a global reputation and branding strategy designed to establish and maintain a consistent and positive image of the Boston Scientific corporate brand and its senior leadership, internally and externally around the world. This individual will be responsible for proactively and reactively strengthening, enhancing and protecting the Company’s image and reputation worldwide, and among its key audiences, including customers and patients.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Affairs & Corporate Branding:
 Develop a company-wide comprehensive reputation and branding strategic plan that is focused on strengthening, protecting and maintaining the global reputation and consistent image of Boston Scientific
 Develop a proactive brand awareness program that highlights the Company’s positive attributes, including its commitment to innovation
 Create and maintain a strategic and comprehensive crisis communications plan and ensure the Company is prepared to effectively manage through a threatening issue or crisis.
 Lead ongoing crisis preparedness and training of senior leadership and crisis team
 Work with director of corporate branding to execute global corporate brand campaign, including advertising, e-brochures, corporate presentations, trade shows, annual reports and corporate videos
 Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including credit rating agencies, patients and professional and industry organizations
 Create and manage comprehensive Thought Leadership platform that includes members of the EC, OC and other BSC leadership
 Maintain a calendar of industry events around the world, and coordinate attendance and organized presentations of EC and OC members effectively creating a BSC Speakers Bureau
 Proactively collaborate with BSC’s marcomm partners in the businesses, functions and regions to ensure there are integrated branding strategies for press events, trade shows, employee functions and other external and internal activities
 Work with director of corporate branding to manage executive photo shoots and video production
 Accountable for executive leadership communications
 Ensure the global consistency of the BSC brand
 Work collaboratively with the other Communications Centers of Excellence to ensure an integrated strategic affairs and corporate branding plans with; internal communications and external communications as well as other key functions; Investor Relations, Marcomm, Regulatory Affairs and Government Affairs
 Develop a continuous improvement environment that promotes feedback on strategic affairs and corporate branding approaches and establishes metrics that track progress
 Lead a team of strategic affairs and corporate branding professionals in Natick and Minnesota
 Manage/maintain strategic affairs and corporate branding budget
 Extensive travel US and International

 The successful candidate will be accomplished strategic communications and brand marketing professional with 10+ years of experience in an innovative company.
 The ideal candidate has managed reputation management challenges that include product recalls , FDA issues and other company challenges impacting the company’s image and reputation
 The ideal candidate must have experience successfully managing a multi-national organization through a major crisis
 Demonstrated ability to earn the trust of top executives
 Regarded as a proven and respected strategic communications and branding consultant to key leaders within the organization and is able to influence leaders position on issues
 Demonstrates deep understanding of public perception and issues as they pertain to the industry
 Demonstrate a visionary ability to build a “best in class” corporate branding function that utilizes and leverages all communication channels including social media
 Demonstrated ability and understanding of video production, executive presentations
 Exceptional leadership skills, provide mentoring and development to a team of communication professionals and able to work effectively through the team to accomplish goals and objectives
 Must have the ability to travel immediately as situations warrant
 Candidates must possess knowledge and understanding of branding strategies designed to achieve visual and image consistency throughout a multi-faceted, multi-layered and global organization
