Social Media Analyst at Social Media Group
Ontario, Canada
I graduated from Brock U in 2004 with a BA in Community Health Sciences and from Niagara College in 2006 with a post-grad certificate in PR.
My careers have ranged from nude art model to casino dealer to event coordinator but it wasn't until my current career that my background in PR and addiction for social media came to fruition with Social Media Group as a Social Media Analyst for Influencer Relations.
I satisfy my addiction through my personal blog and other social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. I like playing video games and the smell of mint and dislike writing my own bio and people who don't get sarcasm.

I have a long standing relationship with the CPRS that started as a student member and contributor to the newsletter. I was recently asked to volunteer as the web strategist to refine web communications and the organizations use of social media.
After performing a communications audit on the current web model I identified six areas of improvements; each area has been assigned a measurable goal that aligns to the overall CPRS strategy.
After presenting my strategy and gaining Board approval, my aim is to complete the first tier of the plan by March 1, 2009.
I will work closely with web co-ordinator and the Board to ensure key messages and organizational goals are being met.

I make it my business to read and get to know bloggers and other content producers, making sure they’re invited to client events and included in programs that are of interest to them. My role is a perfect blend of my own blogging experience and my education and work in communications.
I build relationships; I don't pitch stories.

January 2007 — December 2007 (1 year)
I co-ordinated events and implemented communication strategies for all employee programs, which included the Awards Gala, Summer Picnic, Charity Drives, Volunteer Luncheon and festive events.
In addition to the events, I promoted the Recognition Program, which awards 16 Associates monthly. This involved working with nominators, extensive file checks, committee meetings, surprise presentations and a monthly brunch to honour recipients of the awards.
The biggest event of the year, Star Gala, recognizes the achievements of 500+ of our Associates. The year I worked it, the theme was Swinging with the Stars, which incorporated an old Hollywood, night-at-the-Oscars ambiance.
One of my biggest accomplishments was independently co-ordinating the commemorative program for this event. I liaised with various vendors to produce a 28 page booklet to honour the past year’s recognition program, which was distributed to all of the President, the Executive Committee and the employees.
