Dr. Pei Zheng is a senior mobile software architect and manager with over 8 years of work experience with various parties in the mobile wireless ecosystem, including Microsoft, Nextel, and Lucent. He is currently with i-Mate responsible for the overall software architecture, development, and delivery for i-mate devices, managing internal and outsourced software development from product definition, to BSP bring-up, to software feature code complete, to system integration and QA, to operator trials, TA and shipping. He also manages technical relationships regarding software architecture and integration with silicon vendors (Marvell and Qualcomm), platform providers(Microsoft, OHA), ODMs (Mobinnnova/FIH, TFW), CMs, and third-party vendors, defining and implementing strategic features and functionality for all i-mate devices
A technology expert of various mobile embedded platforms, Dr. Zheng is specialized in identifying, scoping, and managing the development of key mobile wireless technologies and emerging mobile applications and consulting services for mobile embedded systems. An insider of the Windows Mobile ecosystem, he has extensive technical engagement experience with major handset makers and mobile operators, providing Mobile/CE system level development solutions. He is specialized in core Mobile/CE components such as Connection Manager, WiFi, VoIP, RIL, and DRM.
Dr. Zheng is author of two highly reviewed books, 'Smart Phone and Next Generation Mobile Computing' by Morgan Kaufmann, and 'Professional Smartphone Programming' by Wiley/Wrox, and numerous cited publications on IEEE journals and conferences.
Dr. Zheng received a PhD in Computer Science from Michigan State University in 2003.
Dr. Zheng was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, from 1999 to 2000, working on mobile wireless technology research and telecommunication management software.
