My general research focus is on the general topic of "Inclusive Design and Social Aspects of Computing". More specifically my research interests are:
* Inclusive Design:
o Web accessibility
o Design of interactive systems for the elderly and the disabled
o Cultural issues/differences and the design of interactive systems
o Participatory Design (especially as it applies to e-learning)
o Computer Aided Language Learning
* Social Aspects of Computing
o Computer Games and their social and pedagogical dimensions
o E-learning and sociability around e-learning
o Computer Mediated Communication (CMC)
o Computer Supported Collaborated Work (CSCW)
For a number of years I have been involved with research in the broad area of human computer Interaction. I am especially interested in mathematical models that represent age related differences in browsing hierarchical information systems (eg. the world wide web). E-learning is my second most important research focus, with an emphasis on Computer Assisted Foreign Language Learning (CALL) and web based digital libraries. Finally I have an interest in analyzing/evaluating (especially using techniques like social network analysis) online communities and the social aspects of computing (e.g. as a catalyst in helping solving regional conflicts).

June 2009 — Present (6 months)
I am an Associate Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). Until June 2009 i was a reader at the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design , School of Informatics of City University , London. Before that, I was a researcher at the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University from where I also got my Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). My research interests lie in HCI with an emphasis on inclusive design and social aspects of computing. I am especially interested in HCI issues related to the elderly and people with disabilities. I am also interested in internet related research (web usability, mathematical modelling of browsing behaviour in hierarchical online information systems, online communities, e-learning, web based digital libraries and finally social network analysis of online human-to-human interactions).
