Yves Hanoulle’s Summary

As a developer since 1996, I work on projects in which I can inspire a team. Being a communicator with a keen interest in group dynamics I have several qualities that are rarely seen in the IT-world.
I am very well-read, have a huge drive and 360° thinking.
In the job of my preference I work as an agile project-coach with multiple teams and at least one distributed team. My main purpose would be: learn these teams to deliver a program that makes its user's life easier on time, every time. Delivering trainings would be part of this job. I speak three languages; the language of the user, the language of the developer and the one of the business. Even better, I can explain the point of view of each one to the other two. Combined with my interest in System thinking and group's dynamics that makes me an excellent choice for coaching your international projects.

You can find more about me at htp://paircoaching.wordpress.com

  • presentor: how to make your retrospectives the HEART of your agile process

    PairCoaching.net

    (Privately Held; Computer Software industry)

    October 2009Present (2 months)

    The best meeting I had last year was 2 people in my team that written one sticky about everyone in our team with what they liked about them. It’s an example of team members taking over a retrospective to put attention to what is needed.

    When you implement only one aspect of agile: let it be a retrospective. If you would use retrospectives every 2 weeks with your team, I’m convinced you will try everything in XP, Scrum, Lean, TheCoreProtocols, etc.

    In this session I talk about the basics of a retrospective.

    * What is a retrospective?
    * Designing the stage
    * Set the stage
    * Gathering data
    * Generating insights
    * Decide what to do
    * Closing and debriefing
    * Instruments

  • Tips for creating a Self-Organizing team

    PairCoaching.net

    (Computer Software industry)

    September 2009Present (3 months)

    In the agile world we keep talking about self-organizing teams. There is also the idea that self-organizing teams are self-created. In this presentation show my idea’s on how you can actually help a team to become self-organizing.

    Objective(s) of the session: I want participants understand after this session that a self-organizing team can be build.

    Contents: I share idea’s on creating self-organizing teams that I have gathered over the years out of multiple trainings, leadership books and own experience.

    PairCoaching.net educates teams about pragmatic, people oriented best practises. We met each other in the agile community, when we delivered our workshops to an international audience.

    Workshops
    In each one day workshop, we focus on one aspect of team work. Our participants go home with knowledge and experience they can use immediately into their day to day work. All workshops are delivered by a pair of coaches.

    Coaching
    We can coach your team during the whole project. Although not a football fan, Yves likes to compare us with a football coach. You do not need to have a coach to play football, but if you wish to play on the top league. You need to get the most our of your team. For that a coach is needed.
    We prefer to work on the job at least 70% of our time. If you contact us, we will create you a coaching package, fine-tuned to your needs.

    (Educational Institution; Education Management industry)

    October 2006Present (3 years 2 months)

  • Leadership Game: A pair coaching experiment

    www.paircoaching.be (Sole Proprietorship)

    (Sole Proprietorship; 1-10 employees; Professional Training & Coaching industry)

    2005Present (4 years )

    What do you at expect from a leader?
    That he goes away?
    That she takes you strong and firmly by the hand?
    That he enforces the team spirit?
    In this three-hour game, you will find an answer to these questions. By experiencing this situation on our playground, we hope to give you a better insight in:

    The differences in result.
    Personal taste
    Group dynamic effects
    We will give special attention to the link between these three themes and the daily practice of project teams. For this, after the game, we will explain three models,linking them to books, for those who want to learn more.
    Mini website about the game: http://www.hanoulle.be/leiderschap You can find a dutch article on the website that we will distribute to the players of the game. This might also explain more about how we think about the subject.
    This session lets you reflect on the leadership style you wish to use or/and wants to get.

    In this .NET 2.0 project, 11 smart developers are creating in an agile way a MES program. 4 developers of my team are situated in Yekatarinaburg(Russia). I use skype to discuss the design with them.
    On our 2 continuous integration systems (One in Belgium and one in Russia), we have 40 projects with 5300 smoke/unit tests that are rebuild after each check-in. This results in one general setup and different setups with client specific OR/M Business models. (The user interface adapts automatically to these new models. We are using Ms CompositeUI, Infragistics, Netron, DataObjects.NET and hourglasses.
    I helped my client winning an important innovation fund. During the creation of this project, I convinced MESware clients about my agile approach. MEScontrol.net will automate at least 5 different food plants.

    The concept was to create a social relevant webservice. The Zet team decided to create a framework of webservices to check on the quality of meat. This was a nice example of how a business need could be solved by technology.

    Yves has presented this project (together with Tom Mertens and Wim Verhaeghen) at an IT-Works conference about .Net technology.
    This presentation was repeated at the microsoft Belgium launch of Office XP.

    Be proactive. (Take initiative, be responsible.)
    * Begin with the end in mind. (Develop a mental image of how projects, including your life, will turn out.)
    * Put first things first. (Use discipline to put off today's pleasures for greater future pleasures.)
    * Think win/win. (There's plenty for all.)
    * Seek first to understand, then to be understood. (Listen more, speak less.)
    * Synergies. (The whole is greater than the parts.)
    * Sharpen the saw. (Improve physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.)
    * Find your voice, and inspire others to find theirs. (Don't ignore that longing to make a difference.)
