Summary
Mr. Xu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from University of California, San Diego. His research on web and information management ranges from keyword search, phase matching, and parallel data warehouse. He was on the Technical Program Committee of Internal Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE) 2006. He has industry experience on data management from AT&T Labs Research and IBM Research. He was one of the members of the startup (Enosys) which developed the first generally available XML based information integration system acquired by BEA Systems. He was CTO and co-founder of an internet startup which has built a scalable web system utilizing an XML search engine to crawl, index and aggregate information across the internet and provide relevant real time information for its clients. He is currently a researcher at Teradata, the global leader on data warehouse, working on the broad area of parallel computing for efficient management and processing of increasing data volume. He has published over 12 papers at top database conferences, and has 13 US patents pending in the areas of information retrieval and parallel computing. His experience in academic research, industry and startup offers a unique perspective.
